Death Star (Ohio Cut)

DSindoor.jpg

The Death Star "Ohio Cut" is a clone-only, indica-dominant hybrid cannabis strain (approximately 75% indica, 25% sativa) known for its potent, relaxing effects and a unique, pungent aroma. It was first bred in Ohio by a group known as "Team Death-Star" in the early 2000s.

Genetics and Characteristics

The strain is a cross between a Sensi Star father (a powerful indica) and a Sour Diesel mother (a famous sativa-dominant strain). This genetic combination results in a balanced effect that is both cerebrally uplifting and physically tranquilizing.

  • Appearance: The flowers are typically full, dense, and "golf ball-like" in structure, with a light green, almost golden color, dark purple highlights, and orange hairs. The buds are notably sticky due to a thick coating of frosty trichomes.

  • Aroma and Flavor: The strain is known for a "LOUD," complex scent profile. The dominant notes are pungent diesel, skunk, and earthiness, with hints of citrus and a subtle rubber-like undertone. The flavor is similar, offering a mix of sweet, skunky, and gassy tastes.

  • Terpene Profile: Key terpenes include myrcene (relaxing), caryophyllene (anti-inflammatory), and limonene (mood-boosting).

Effects and Use

Death Star is highly potent, with THC content typically ranging from 18% to 27%. Its effects are profound and long-lasting, making it best suited for evening or lazy day use. "Couch lock" is a common experience.

Common effects include:

  • Full-body relaxation and physical tranquility

  • Gentle euphoria and a peaceful headspace

  • Sleepiness and a heavy-body feeling

Due to its high potency and indica dominance, the strain is often used to help manage symptoms of chronic pain, insomnia, stress, anxiety, and appetite stimulation.
